4 Hour Supported Scaffold Course Details

Supported scaffold user training and refresher training program provides a basic explanation of supported scaffolds and supported scaffold components. The course will introduce the elements of supported scaffold safety and common supported scaffolds hazards while placing an emphasis on hazard reduction and prevention which includes fall protection, scaffold inspections, hazard recognition, and responding appropriately to emergency situations. This course is a specialized elective course that can help fulfill the requirement for an individual applying for a Site Safety Training Card. THIS IS AN AWARENESS-LEVEL TRAINING ONLY and does not provide any other qualification or authorization outside of the Site Safety Training Card. Cost of completion card is included in price indicated below.

    NYC DOB Requirement:
    Local Law 52 of 2005 requires that all workers using supported scaffolds on construction sites in New York City receive this training and get their 4-hour scaffold card. Individuals must re-take this training course every 4 years. As of June 1st, 2019 Supervisors will need a total of 62 hours of training which must include among other courses the 4 Hour Supported Scaffold User and Refresher Class.     CEU REQUIREMENTS

    To earn a certificate of completion and a permanent card, student must do the following:
    • 100% attendance for the 10-hour prescribed SST course package: 10 hours of total instruction time
    • Completion of Continuing Education and Training Registration Form
    • Active participation in all class exercises (determined by instructor)
    • Completion of required quiz assessment
    • As applicable, achievement of minimum passing score (70%) on required end-of-course examination
    • Participation and submittal of end-of-course evaluation form (must provide name on form to receive credit)
    • Make up time is not allowed. Students who miss time from any individual session must reschedule and attend the full training course.

    PREREQUISITE: This course package is appropriate for individuals who meet the qualifications of a Worker or Supervisor under Local Law 196. For more information on Local Law 196, click here. Participants need to be able to communicate with the instructor in the language the course is held in. Successful completion of OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety and Health, prior to enrolling in this course.

    LEARNING OUTCOMES

    • List supported scaffold types and its major components
    • Identify the most common supported scaffold safety hazards
    • Protect themselves from supported scaffold safety hazards
    • Outline New York City Building Code supported scaffold safety requirements
    • Inspect supported scaffolds in accordance with federal and local safety regulations

    Any individual who is required to use or work on a supported scaffold in New York City.
