Course Overview

This bundle offers four NYC Department of Buildings-Approved Site Safety Training (SST) courses including 2 hours of general and 2 hours of specialized electives training that can be applied towards the requirements of an SST or Supervisor SST Card. THIS IS AN AWARENESS-LEVEL TRAINING ONLY and does not provide any other qualification or authorization outside of the Site Safety Training Card.

These are the awareness level courses only and do not provide any other qualifications or authorization outside of the Site Safety Training Card. The courses in this bundle are also available as stand-alone options.

Curriculum for Supervisors employed in NYC within the Five Boroughs on projects requiring a:

  • Construction Super
  • Site Safety Manager
  • Site Safety Coordinator
  • Concrete Safety Manager
  • Competent Person.

 

NYC DOB Requirement:

Local Law 196 of 2017 requires certain workers and supervisors to receive safety training at construction sites that are required to designate a Construction Superintendent, Site Safety Coordinator or Site Safety Manager.

1-hour first aid & Cpr
  • Describe a medical emergency
  • Understand the need to know the location of first aid kits and hazard communication information
  • Understand requirements to have First Aid and the ability to administer such procedures
  • Describe Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
  • Describe Personal Fitness and Fitness for duty

 

1-hour protection from sun exposure
  • Describe risk factorrs, symptoms, and treatment best practices for the most common sun- and heat- related health disorders
  • Identify situations that create additional risks for sun/heat exposure
  • Apply controls to prevent or minimize sun- and heat-related health risks on job sites
  • Apply ACGIH’s screening criteria for TLV and Action Limit for Heat Stress

 

1-hour confined space entry
  • Identify examples of confined spaces and the major hazards associated with confined spaces
  • Recognize that OSHA has strict requirements for confined spaces in construction, which are found in 29 CFR 1926 Subpart AA
  • Describe the major difference between a confined space and a permit-required confined space
  • Understand that only select, trained, and authorized persons may enter permit required confined spaces

 

1-Hour flag person
  • Explain the purpose of and need for flagging operations
  • Describe the components of a successful flagging operation
  • Differentiate responsibilities for crew members & supervisors during flagging operations
  • Identify proper equipment and PPE for flagging operations
  • Explain various flagger responsibilities for different kinds of worksites

Course Policy

To successfully complete the training, students must:

  • Earn a minimum score of 75% on the final evaluation.
  • Complete 100% of the required course content.
  • Completion of required pre-and post-quiz assessment
  • Actively participate in all written and practical learning activities.
  • Completion of Continuing Education and Training Registration Form
