Frequently Asked Questions

A: The Lift Director certification is valid for five years, after which recertification is required to maintain active status

While there are no formal prerequisites, we strongly recommend participants have at least 2-3 years of experience in construction, particularly with crane operations or rigging. Basic understanding of load calculations and crane operations is beneficial.

Although online forklift certification programs exist, they must include a hands-on evaluation component. many online training programs do not offer this component and may need to be better as a certification.

The course cover OSHA regulations, pre-lift planning, lift plan interpretation, crane capabilities (load charts), rigging, load weight calculations, hazard identification, communication/signaling, roles/responsibilities, and basic emergency procedures.

Typically, you won’t need to bring much. The training provider will usually supply course materials. You might want to bring a notebook and pen for taking additional notes.
