PREREQUISITE: This Course Package is appropiate for individuals who meet the qualifications of a Worker or Supervisor under Local Law 196.

Participants need to be able to communicate with the instructor in the language the course is held in. Successful completion of OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety and Health, prior to enrolling in this course.
8-Hour Fall Prevention Training (SST-B307)
NYC DOB REQUIREMENT: 8-HOUR FALL PREVENTION & 2-HOUR DRUG & ALCOHOL AWARENESS
Local Law 196 of 2017 requires certain Workers and Supervisors to receive safety training at construction sites that are required to designate a Construction Superintendent, Site Safety Coordinator, or Site Safety Manager. By September 1, 2020, workers will need a total of 40 hours of training to qualify for a Site Safety Training (SST) card.
- 8-Hour Fall Prevention: 0.8
- 2-Hour Drug & Alcohol Awareness: 0.2
CEU REQUIREMENTS
- 100% attendance for the 10-hour prescribed SST course package: 10 hours of total instruction time
- Completion of Continuing Education and Training Registration Form
- Active participation in all class exercises (determined by instructor)
- Completion of required quiz assessment
- As applicable, achievement of minimum passing score (70%) on required end-of-course examination
- Participation and submittal of end-of-course evaluation form (must provide name on form to receive credit)
- Make up time is not allowed. Students who miss time from any individual session must reschedule and attend the full training course.

8-HOUR FALL PREVENTION
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Understand the statistics of fatal fall and how they are the most common cause of death in construction
- Understand competent persons responsibilities
- Describe Types of fall Hazards
- Understand the equation force = Mass x Acceleration
- Describe the components, specifications, and regulatory requirements of fall controls
- Understand Struck-by and fall-to-the-same level controls
- Describe the components, specifications regulatory requirements, including New York City chapter 33, section 3315.1
2-HOUR DRUG & ALCOHOL AWARENESS
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Understand that dependence disorders can happen to normal people (erase stigma)
- Describe illicit use of drugs and the effects of drugs and alcohol in workplaces
- Understand the effects of drug and alcohol use in the construction industry
- Describe the impact and effects of drug and alcohol use on construction sites and in personal life.
- Explain various drugs and their effects on the human body.
- Explain relevant information concerning alcohol use and its effects on the human body.
- Understand prevention and control of drugs and alcohol in the workplace
- Understand adverse synergistic use of drugs along with alcohol
